Country Life

WE had a weekend in the country, which meants we were at my parents and Thad's parents houses.

Riding the golf cart in pajamas...you can only get away with that in the country. (Aunt Ju-ju and Granddaddy along for the ride.)

Waiting for Daddy and Granddaddy to get her a horse to ride.

Typical MR look.

Riding bareback

Thanking the horsie for a nice ride.

The Flood of 2009

Or as the news channels call it here, "The Storm with No Name" :)

Our neighborhood got flooded yesterday from all the rain we have had. I lost count of the inches somewhere last week. When I got news that some of the entrances to our neighborhood were closing, I got MR from school and we rushed home. Thad did as well. After some of the rain, Thad and MR walked down to the lower-lying areas to get some pictures.

(Please excuse MR's apparel. Those that know me best, know that that normally she would NOT be allowed to step foot out of the house in this get-up. But she loves this shirt that her daddy bought her from some reason. Probably just to aggravate me.)

Anyway....on to the pictures.

This used to be the neighborhood soccer field (you can see the goal in the background) and park. Also notice how MR is holding up her skirt so it does not get wet. :)

The creek that has never been this high. Usually it is just a little stream.

The baseball field right near our house.

All of these pictures were after the main flooding was gone. But the streets are covered in mud, where the creek overflowed.
We are very lucky and there are many more families in the Atlanta that lost everything including their loved ones. Please keep them in your prayers.

Sesame Street Live

Thad got tickets to the Autotrader.com Suite at Philips Arena for Sesame Street Live. It was so nice, I could definitely get used to the suite life.

Dressed and ready to go.

Enjoying our dinner in the suite before the show starts.

Pig Hill of Fame

When Thad and I started dating almost 15 years ago (yikes!), his sister Becky was living in Ellijay (north Ga). I got to go up there many times with his family to visit. Then Thad lived up there for about a year after high school. Our favorite place to eat was Poole's BBQ. When we ate there, it was just a little shack, now they have made a bit of money so they built a new building.

Well this weekend, I was craving Poole's BBQ, so we took the hour-long drive up to Ellijay just to satisfy my craving.

Thad and MR enjoying the BBQ.

Posing with the Pig Mobile that used to be in working order. I remember seeing it drive around Ellijay. Also the owner used to drive it to Capital Hill and has many pictures with politicians from all over the world.

Pig Hill of Fame. You can buy a wooden pig and have any message put on it for only $5. Thad and I did this in 1994. But we have yet to find our pig on this hill.
